MUSEUM

MUSEUM

Located on 2 ½ acres in the Homestead Valley community of Landers in the former home of Newlin and Vernette Landers. The totally electric ‘Gold Medallion Home’ was built in 1964 by Skyview Homes for Fred and LaVerne Trosper, Vernette’s parents for $8,595.00. In 1973, the Trosper’s sold their home to Newlin and Vernette.

In 2005, when Vernette passed, she left the house and property to the Historical Society. The museum is dedicated to serving, educating, and informing local residents, out-of-town visitors, and the communities of the Morongo Basin about our unique history.

Visitors may choose a self-guided tour or accompany a docent where you’ll discover indoor/outdoor exhibits, the original Landers Post Office building, Merchantile Shop, Jackrabbit Homestead, and a repository for artifacts and memorabilia relating to Morongo Basin history.
