TEMPORARY OFFICE CLOSURE Effective Tuesday, April 25, 2006
The MBHS Board of Directors, at the monthly meeting in March 2006 made a slight course alteration decision regarding our MBHS office located on Church Street in Yucca Valley. Our wonderful membership made significant monetary contributions and pledges the year leading up to the closure to allow us to maintain an office. WE THANK YOU!!! However, our rented office underwent an ownership change forcing us to close our office on a temporary basis. Financially and long term, it was not prudent to maintain the office at the Church Street address. Business and all other functions will continue uninterrupted. Appointments may still be made for research or obtaining information by calling our phone number, 760-365-1877 and/or contacting us via E-mail at MBHistSociety@msn.com.
Our office has been closed effective Tuesday, April 25, 2006.
Ultimately, however, our primary goal of a new MBHS owned Research Center and Museum remains in place.

8th MBHS ANNIVERSARY The Morongo Basin Historical Society will turn 8 years old on February 20, 2007. The MBHS became a reality at a charter meeting on February 20, 1999. The charter officers selected to serve that first year were President Paul Cook, Vice President Helen Dotts, Recording Secretary Carole Kester, Corresponding Secretary Rita Wendler and Treasurer Sandy Williams. Forty people paid dues and signed the Founding Charter. Since then, the MBHS has made major strides in preserving the history of the Morongo Basin. Our membership has grown to over 185 members and 10 historical sites in the basin have been registered with the State of California as historical resources as well as many more identified. Pioneer families have been interviewed by the Oral History Committee, donated photos and historical information indexed and cataloged. These are just a few of our accomplishments!! |
MBHS-GOALS 2006/07 #1. Make ready the Landers Estate for our Headquarters & Museum.
#2. Increase our membership and volunteer team by 20%.
#3. Apply for Grants to further preserve Morongo Basin history.
#4. Continue to file historical sites, place historical site plaques and produce historical DVDs.
